This would be the perfect sign for my art business, as I love re-purposing junk into wonderful new things. I should put this out in front of my house. Oh, wait, the Homeowners Association might not approve. Oh well, I guess it's off to the yard sales and flea markets... unless... maybe... you have some junk!

Not Enough Memory...
Okay, so I finally did it. After years of using the internet for my website, blogging, shopping, yahoo groups, and the like... I got tired of trying to remember all my user names and passwords in my head... or looking for them on their little scrap pieces of paper scattered everywhere. So I made myself a Web Log!
I got this cool alterable journal from my friend Robin Beam and it was the perfect size and shape. I painted it with Adirondack Paint Dabbers, swirled on a little bling with Stickles Glitter Glue and even added the vintage plastic index tabs, colorized with Adirondack Alcohol Inks!

Pick-A-Photo Tuesday: Mmmmm...Mocha...
Mmmmmm... mmmmmm... mochaccino! So frothy and tasty. Couldn't you just dive right in? It's my every morning guilty pleasure. But at only 100 calories, I don't feel guilty at all! Yummy, yummy. Love that mochaccino!

Abracadabra...
Here is my trusty magic wand. I made it a while back when I was having a tough time keeping a positive frame of mind.
Of course it is my favorite color — pink! — and is made with paper, checkers, a wooden dowel, beads, baubles, glitter and a tiny bell. The bell really makes it sound like little fairies are at work, bringing good things to those who wave the magic wand. It always makes the girls in the office giggle... how great is that!
I use it often when I would like something to appear... or perhaps... to disappear?

Hair
Tonight my friend Teresa and I are going to see the musical Hair in the old Carousel Building in Asbury Park! After 40 years since the original Broadway play, what a nostalgic location to see it. I'm very excited!
Ever since my parents took me to see the movie in the 70's, I've been in love with the story, the characters and the songs. This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, Age of Aquarius...

I Love A Good Bar-B-Que
Last night I went to an awesome bar-b-que, hosted by the lovely Suze Weinberg (standing left) and her husband, Lenny (right). She invited the whole Ranger crew over for some drinks and nosh. Suze is one of our signature designers at Ranger. Another signature designer, Tim Holtz (next to Suze), was visiting Ranger for the week and got to come along too. It was a great time.

A Shameless Plug...
In case you didn't know, I have a few items set up in a retail shop at CafePress.com. Featured on posters, note cards and aprons is my Funky Flowers collage, as seen in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion Magazine. You'll also find some fun Trash-wear tee shirts for men and women.

The Shadow Knows...
Yes... The Shadow knows that she's been a bad kitty. You see, I found out how little Miss Juliet gets on top of the entertainment center. She climbs into the window, up the curtain, and then lets go when she gets to the top! Holy curtains, kitty cat!

What A Doll
One of my favorite objects to alter are these bendable cloth dolls. There is just too much fun you can have dying, stamping, embellishing and altering them.

I was only made day before yesterday.
Sometimes like a beautiful flower that breaks through the surface of the soil and bursts into a gorgeous bloom... I wish I was only made day before yesterday.
This is one of the 4"x4" canvasses I've been working on recently (I've been a little sidetracked). I put a few for sale in a friend's shop in Asbury Park. Need... to... make... more...

Pick-A-Photo Tuesday: From Hell
Here's a photo I took at South Of The Border using black & white infra-red film. This film actually measures natural objects' wavelengths and makes a beautiful blue sky look eerily dark, while making foliage (notice the palm fronds and tree leaves) look lighter. I just happened to be walking across the parking lot when one of the giant sombrero-clad statues covered up the "S" of the Shell gas station sign, and I had to snap the photo.

Yay! I'm A Winner!
Thanks to everyone who came to the gallery opening at the Belmar Arts Council's "Art in the Round" Challenge and voted for me. Out of 30 canvasses, my creation was one of the 12 chosen to become a tabletop in the Council's new cabaret seating area. Yay!

I Will Stand Out
Here's something fun I did with a collage... creating a piece of jewelry with it using Ranger's Memory Frames. I'd like to think it's a statement about my future as a professional artist. I will stand out!

Art & Soul Logo...Fini!
So, here it is... the finished logo for Art & Soul 2009. I want to give a big shout out to Glenny Densem-Moir who kindly asked if I was interested in designing the logo for next year's events. She is the driving force behind all the Art & Soul retreats and if you ever wanted to go somewhere to create wonderful, artistic things and meet like-minded people... I highly recommend attending this one!

Pick-A-Photo Tuesday: Kids Shouldn't Smoke!
Here's a good one! When I was in college taking photography classes, one of our assignments was to take a picture of a "still life" using a view camera. Being in love with irony like I am, my subject matter consisted of this crazy baby doll head I bought at a flea market with a cigarette stuck in its mouth. I filled the foreground with cigarettes and figured I'd go all the way with the message.

Fresh, White & Sweet...
Sad News...
Hello all... I have some very sad news to report. Four weeks ago—6 days after our 2nd Wedding Anniversary—my husband Joseph walked out on me. With 9 years total together, always talking things out, and being each other's best friends... it really came as a total shock. His initial contact came an entire week after he left and in the minimal conversations we have had, he has not given me an acceptable answer as to why. But he does not want to talk and says that he does not want to reconcile. It seems like when the going got tough... he just got going.
I must say that this has crushed me to the core of my being and not knowing why makes it even more difficult. Over the last month it was all I could do to post daily on my blog, but it kind of kept me going and made me be extra creative with my entries! This situation not only affects my life but my creativity as well. However, I am trying to keep breathing and moving and doing and eventually the momentum will pick up. The choice has been made for me and I am trying to accept it and move on.
